About The Middle Way Home
I’m Wes. I write about addiction, bipolar disorder, recovery, and the Buddhist teachings that have helped me find something like peace along the way.
For years, I struggled with addiction and severe mental illness. I spent time in psychiatric hospitals. I tried different medications and therapies. Eventually I got sober, and found my way to Recovery Dharma and the teachings of the Buddha.
I don’t have recovery figured out. I’m not a psychiatrist, therapist, or Buddhist teacher. I’m someone who has been through some difficult times and is trying to make sense of what I’ve learned. That’s what The Middle Way Home is about.
I’ll share new essays as they take shape, exploring the messy space where mental health, sobriety, and dharma meet. There are no slogans here, and no easy answers. Just an honest attempt to tell the truth about what it’s like to live with a mind that sometimes works against you, and what I’ve found that actually helps.
